Davidson Loehr has always been a heretic. His journey began at a young age when he questioned the traditional religious stories presented to him, leading him to abandon religion until he encountered a sincere Unitarian minister years later. After serving in the Army and discovering a passion for photography, he still felt a deep hunger for honest religion and meaningful stories.

Seeking education in theology, he enrolled at the University of Chicago Divinity School and earned MA and Ph.D. degrees. Since then, he has served Unitarian churches in various states, finally settling in Austin, Texas, where he feels a strong connection to the community.

Outside of his religious pursuits, Loehr has explored other interests such as music, photography, woodworking, and woodturning. He sees heresy as a choice to challenge orthodox beliefs and embrace more profound truths, believing it to be the only path to genuine spirituality.
